Some of the ingredients in these eyeshadows are diisostearyl malate, cannabis sativa (hemp) seed oil, tocopheryl acetate (vitamin e), phenoxyethanol and ethylhexylglycerin. Diisostearyl malate functions as a skin softening agent in cosmetics. Cannabis sativa seed oil, also known as hemp oil, is a good source of vitamin e and it helps to soften the skin. Phenoxyethanol is a synthetic preservative that is used in many cosmetic items. Ethylhexylglycerin is a synthetic ingredient that is used as a preservative. It also boosts the effectiveness of phenoxyethanol and softens your skin. These shadows do not have phthalates, mineral oil, talc or parabens and they are vegan and cruelty free.
The palette is made out of a hard cardboard that has a removable plastic window, to make it easy to recycle the packaging. There are two very strong magnets on the top and bottom that help the palette stay closed.
There is no mirror on the inside, but there is a dual sided vegan brush.
When I was swatching the shadows I couldn’t believe how pigmented they looked on my skin. When I went to apply the shadows with the included brush I saw that there was a lot of kick up, and there wasn’t a lot of pigment when I applied them. Though the brush itself is very soft, it doesn’t seem to pick up a lot of product. The matte and shimmer shadows looked a lot better when I used an eye primer and my finger to apply them. The reflective shadows worked a lot better without an eye shadow primer and my finger. At the end of the day I found that the mattes and shimmer shadows creased no matter what, but the reflective shadows looked pretty good, except for a tiny bit of creasing one or two days.
I was very excited to try out a palette that is infused with
hemp seed oil, but I was very disappointed in it. Even though I was able to
create some nice looks, I had to work very hard to get the shadows to work and
most of them did crease by the end of the day.
